About Beginners course

“There are shortcuts to happiness and dancing is one of them.  Learn how to dance is easy, just enrol for dance classes.”

New beginners course starts on 26 April

What you will learn on the course

From stamping feet to beautiful hands, you will begin to explore the moods and styles of the dynamic and fiery Romany/Gypsy dance. You will be given a thorough introduction to all aspects of Gypsy dance. You will also begin to develop your stamina, strength and co-ordination through the study of beautiful Gypsy arms, footwork and travelling steps. Towards the end of the full Level 1 course (15 weeks), you will have the opportunity to perform with Yagori Gypsy Dancers.

By the end of the 5-week course, you will be able to:

○ Demonstrate basic Romany/Gypsy arm movements, footwork and travelling steps

○ Reproduce some of the core Romany/ Gypsy rhythms through stamping

○ Show development in your dance skills of co-ordination, strength, flexibility and stamina.
